Breaking News: Larry Bird Getting a Museum
There are reports that there is going to be a museum centered around the legendary Larry Bird. The museum’s organizers is looking to get thousands of items in time for the museum’s opening next year.
This planned museum is expected to be a big part of a new convention center called the Terre Haute Convention Center. It is still under construction. The museum is expected to be completed in March of next year.
A Difficult Move To Make
Exhibits that will be included in this potential museum will consist of items donated by Bird itself. In addition, there will be items donated by others as well. The items will feature moments from his career with the Celtics. They will also feature moments from his collegiate career with Indiana State University. His time on the U.S Olympic team will also be documented.
According to the Tribune-Star ,the site that will be used to hold the memorabilia should be ready in the coming weeks. It is currently being changed for the purpose of security.
There are hopes that any future items that are collected for the museum will be stored in one place.
Larry Bird’s ties with the Terre Haute area were due to his time spent playing for Indiana State in 1979. While there, he led the team to a NCAA title.
