JJ Redick Retires from Basketball

The sharp-shooting J.J Redick has retired from the NBA after fifteen seasons.   Redick made his announcement official today in a video that he posted on social media.

In the latest episode of his “The Old Man and The Three”, J.J Redick stated that he never imagined that he would play basketball for as long as he has.   When he described his last season, he said that it was “a seven-month exercise in coming face-to-face with my own athletic mortality.

Ready for his next move.

Redick stated that he has clarity and that it is time to move on to the next chapter of his life.  He expressed gratitude to all who were a part of his basketball career.

J.J Redick was the 11th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.    In his fifteen seasons in the NBA, J.J Redick played for the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks.   Redick averaged 12.8 points per game for his career.   His best season occurred in 2018-2019.   During that season, Redick averaged 18.1 points per game for the Philadelphia 76ers.

J.J Redick would compete in the playoffs in 13 out of the 15 seasons he played in the NBA.  He would play in the NBA Finals with the Orlando Magic during the 2008-2009 season. Farewell JJ, the game will miss you.

Many NBA Fans will miss seeing JJ Redick on the court. I wish him well in whatever he decides to do going forward.
